Camp NaNoWriMo - Day One

The first day was, overall, a very good day. I managed to hit 10k before the end of the night. I hope day two (today) will be just as well but since it's my niece's birthday, I can't guarantee it.

Camp NaNoWriMo

I'm pretty excited about this Camp NaNoWriMo. I'm hoping that it's going to push my muse to do something. Writing is pretty dry right now but I have a whole novel planned out (sort of). I'm glad I have the first of the July off. Now I'm off to run some errands.

Hope all is well for everyone.

Damn my brain

I just finished editing my Nano '10 novel (one of them) and I just used my free proof copy from Createspace for it so I could use it for editing (cheaper than printing out 130 pages). Anyway, I decided to outline it so I could organize it a little more but I ended up changing the whole thing. The plot is basically the same but my characters are different. I find that the new way would work better in developing my characters. It makes me want to slap myself because of all the work I put behind this thing. I even have artwork for it that no longer suits my plot...*sigh* Looks like a whole new canvas for me and a new document. Maybe later I'll end up liking my old one again.
Happy Memorial Day (for those who celebrate it).
Happy Orange
After I drew on him, I couldn't eat him.

It's a beautiful day but it's hot. 90 degree weather (not to mention humid weather) is just awful so my siblings and I decided to have an Art Day. I'm doing more mixed media art and some novel outlining today. I will probably post those pictures tomorrow. Last night during the bad storm, I made one of my favorite mixed media cards yet. Here it is:

I won't post all of my art work all of the time. There is just nothing for me to post about until the week actually starts. This is my day off. :D it's nice to have the day off on such a beautiful day...even though it's hotter than hell outside.
Other than reading, I've also been doing some art. It's rather random sort of art but it's fun. Mixed media and jewelry making. I've come a long way since last year. I picked up knitting, crocheting, beading, jewelry-making, and now mixed media art. I get bored so easily these days that I need another way to keep me occupied.  Here are some pictures of my mixed media and some jewelry.

My Jewelry. My mom stole the bottle necklace because it matched her clothes.

I've been spending past few weeks reading. It's nice to sit down and get lost in a book every once in a while. It's usually around this time where I start reading far more than usual.

The Affinity Bridge (Newbury and Hobbes, #1)

I liked it well enough. It was a quick and easy read yet very entertaining.

The Alchemyst (The Secrets of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel, #1)

It was okay. It wasn't as good as I was expecting it to be but it wasn't awful. I just can't bring myself to read the next book.

Incarceron (Incarceron, #1)

I liked this one but didn't love it. I had a hard time staying focused on it and kept asking myself when I could finish it and read something else. I probably won't be reading the next book.

The Osiris Ritual (Book 2 of Newbury & Hobbes Investigation)

I really liked this one. I liked it better than the first book and I'm impatiently waiting for the third one to come out this fall. This book was a very quick read. I read it in under 24 hours (I'm a very slow reader).

Alanna: The First Adventure (Song of the Lioness, #1)
I reread these books because I couldn't remember anything that happened. I remembered on page 168 or chapter six (paperback) is one of my favorite parts in the whole story. I laughed and had to make sure the kids didn't know what I was laughing about. :D Anyway, rereading them helped me remember how much I love the series.
In the Hand of the Goddess (Song of the Lioness, #2)

Another one I reread. There were plenty of good parts in the book but it went by so fast. I know these books are targeted for younger readers but I still love it.

First Test (Protector of the Small, #1)Page (Protector of the Small, #2)Squire (Protector of the Small, #3)Lady Knight (Protector of the Small, #4)

I love this series. I've read them a million times and still laugh at them. I like how the plot is finished but the story is left open for the readers to fill in the rest of her life.
Now, I'm reading Terrier by Tamora Pierce (again).

A return, I hope.

It certainly has been a long time since I've been here and frankly, I can't remember why I decided to leave. I'm not really good at keeping up with these things. My wordpress account hardly ever gets updated either. I just lose patience I guess. I'm hoping to get back into livejournal. I find that the community here is warmer than that of wordpress. I'm not much of a blogger. I don't have much to say because nothing happens in my life but I guess that's because I don't try to make my life very interesting. It's not like I go out of my way to branch out and connect with people. Maybe that's my problem. I think I need to make more close friends. Friends that I don't mind hanging around for hours. So far, I only have one friend that I do that with.

It looks like I need to do a lot of catching up with the people I am friends with on here. I hope everyone is well.

Jan. 9th, 2011

I can't even tell you how many time I've watched Sherlock. It's the best show ever but I think my sister is getting annoyed with me. I keep watching it in her room. XD I should just watch it on my computer.

Nothing is really going on. Right now I feel like I've been punched in the nose. I don't even know why my nose hurts so much but I have a feeling that it's connected with my awful headache. *sigh* At least classes don't start until the 18th. I'm really excited about my new semester. I've been so bored lately that I want some school work to do. Isn't that sad? I want to do school work.

I hope everyone is well.

I got my Sherlock DVDs in the mail!!! I will not be seen for many days. :D Not like it is any different than any other time.

Not a good day for shopping

It wasn't the crowds or the traffic that was a problem today, it was how empty the stores were. My dad bought my sister and I coats for Christmas but mine was too short in the arms and my sister's was just flat out uncomfortable. So we went out to exchange them but we couldn't find them. They were gone. I found a different one that I liked but it didn't come in my size. We just decided to return the coats and get new ones later at a different store (of the same branch). We went to the mall after that because I was searching for postcards but the bookstore no longer sells postcards. They had just gotten rid of them. Then we went to staples were we found my dad's ink that he wanted us to buy for him and then we went to Meijer to get groceries and to see if I could print postcards there but apparently you can only do that online. Discouraged, my sister and I went home.

But the rest of the day was fun. I finished one short story for a writing tournament. It's not good because my writing is very drab but I want to get writing suggestions more than win this thing. I made my own postcards. I finished some themes for the 100 theme challenge (I neglect it a lot).
